Detlef Albrecht, M.D.

President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Albrecht brings two decades of experience in drug development, building companies and executive management. He has led or co-led the development of several products currently on the market, which generated more than $3 billion in sales in 2009. Dr. Albrecht has been involved in raising more than $150 million in private and public financings. Previously he served as the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President, Research and Development for Relypsa and Ilypsa. Ilypsa was acquired by Amgen in July 2007 for $420 million. Prior he was Vice President of Clinical Development and Member of the Management Board at ALZA Corporation, acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2001 during his tenure there. He started his industry career in 1992 at Schwarz Pharma in German and he holds both medical and doctorate degrees from Aachen University, Germany.
